Trust goes both ways.

Applicants need to know who's behind the opportunity. Employers need to know who's behind the application. Verafor checks both.

What candidates ask

  • Is this company real?
  • Is this role genuine and funded?
  • Is the person posting it authorised?
  • Will anyone reply?

What employers ask

  • Is this candidate real?
  • Is this CV accurate?
  • Did they really do that job?
  • Can they actually do the work?

Verafor answers all eight before anyone wastes an interview.

A convincing profile can hide the wrong person.

Some applicants are not who they say they are. Some recruiters are not recruiters at all. Both look fine on screen.

The employer.

A senior engineer. Good CV, good interview, the passport scans. Six weeks later the laptop you posted to Manchester is being driven from Pyongyang, with your source code on it.

Not fiction. In July 2026 eleven governments, the United Kingdom among them, issued a joint alert on North Korean IT workers getting hired under identities that are not their own, using forged documents, third-party proxies and AI to cover their tracks. It asks the platforms people are hired through to strengthen identity verification, and it names strict review of identification documents and in-person interviews.

The candidate.

A recruiter from a company you know. The salary makes sense. They send a coding test to do before the interview. There is no interview. The test was the attack, and your laptop is now somebody else's.

Not fiction either. In September 2026 Japan, the United States, Australia and Germany issued a joint alert on a group that poses as a prospective employer to reach software developers, recruiting through social media, online job platforms, gig work platforms and freelance marketplaces. It counted more than 30,000 infected devices in over 100 countries.

Check who you are dealing with before you hand over your details, or make the hire.

For employers

Show you're serious about hiring. Know who you're interviewing.

Applicants can see your company and your recruiters have been checked, and that there is money behind the role. You see who you are interviewing before you spend an hour finding out: identity, qualifications and work history, confirmed first. What we can't check is whether you'll get on. That is still your interview.

From £150 a month. An agency charges a percentage of first-year salary to do the same filtering by hand.

  1. 01 · Verify the employer.

We match you to Companies House, confirm your company email domain, and take a refundable deposit on every role.

  2. 02 · Verify the candidate.

Identity, work history, education and skills confirmed by independent checkers before you see a name.

  3. 03 · Meet on evidence.

A person reviews the shortlist, not a keyword filter. If a hire fails on something we verified, we replace them within 90 days.

What gets checked

One verification stack. Two sides of the same hire.

Employer

  • Company exists: Companies House match
  • Poster belongs to it: verified company domain
  • Role is funded: refundable 1% deposit, capped at £2,000, taken when the role is posted and returned when you tell us how it ended

Candidate

  • They are who they say: government ID matched to a live face
  • They worked where they say: confirmed by the employer
  • They studied where they say: confirmed with the awarding institution
  • They can do what they say: certifications confirmed with the issuer

Checked once, yours to keep. Only a hash of each credential reaches the blockchain, so the record can be verified without the data behind it, and the data can be erased without breaking the record. The credential itself is a W3C Verifiable Credential, readable by other platforms through our public verification API, and exportable as a Comprehensive Learner Record, Open Badges 3.0, Blockcerts or CSV.

Who built this

Verafor started in 2025 when one of us tried to help a stranger in a recruitment forum and got blocked for it. Twice. We went looking at why hiring felt this broken and found jobs that were never real, CVs nobody checks, and AI writing applications for AI to reject.

We've both been on both sides. Posted a role and drowned in CVs. Applied and heard nothing. So we built the thing we wished existed. Two of us, UK, full time.
